Every day we feel the weight of sin and death on our lives. We strive for love and peace and comfort and convenience and yet we cry and fight and hurt and fail. Still, we think we have things under control and just have to try a bit harder.
But then there are those days when we see blatant displays of evil. And we reel from it.
“Why do You let evil have its way?
How can You let orphans die in vain?
When will You give answers for the pain?
Is there a place where Hope can still sustain?”
-The Glorious Unseen “Sustain”
This song play through my head every time my heart screams “WHY??” It is so raw in its honesty. “How can You?” “When will You??”
Is there a Hope that can sustain us even in the midst of these darkest of days? When we have more questions than answers? When nothing makes sense and it seems as though the world around us is crumbling?
“Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.”
