Happy Fall, Y’all!
It’s September, beautiful September! The first few days of the month felt like summer (hot and humid!) and I felt like I was going to die, but this afternoon a cool front swept through and now it’s glorious September flannel-shirt-and-a-cup-of-cider weather. (And isn’t Mr. Mustache Owl hilarious?! Saw him at Hobby Lobby and he cracked me up.)
Last month I joined the Goals with Grace linkup and posted a list of goals for the month. It was really motivating for me to have a tangible list to tackle, and to see my progress by the end of the month! Here’s a look back at August and a look ahead to September:
Here’s a look at how it went with my August Goals:
- Finish Elsie’s quilt – Well… it’s not exactly finished yet. BUT… I’m working on it again! I got the back pieced together, and pinned to the front. I need to finish this ASAP. She’s so excited to use it in her “big girl bed,” which we’ve already moved into her room (in preparation of baby bro’s arrival in a few months.)
Organize my clothes– Done! I have clothes in my closet and dresser that are season appropriate and that fit me! The clutter has been cleared. Read 1 Book… in its entirety– Done! Ok, so I finished it on September 4th, but close enough. I read Glimpses of Grace by Gloria Furman and loved it. In fact, I was so blessed by it that I want to pass it on! I’m giving away my copy of the book. See the bottom of this post for details and to enter! Pilates 3x week– Amazingly, yes! I found a prenatal pilates video series (free you YouTube, of course) that I’ve really enjoyed and I’ve actually made a point to do several times a week! The instructor is 36 weeks pregnant, so it’s nice to actually see someone with a belly doing all of the things they’re telling you to do! Feels good to be exercising again. It’s already made a big difference in increasing my flexibility and decreasing back pain! Purge the Pantry– Done and done! My cabinets are clean, organized, and full of food we feel good about eating. See what I found in my fridge and cabinets, what didn’t make the cut and why.
Here are my September Goals:
- Organize: Under Kitchen Sink / Bathroom Drawers & Medicine Cabinet / Linen Closet
- Clean and Declutter Entryway (We have this super cute little porch area that becomes the catch-all because we don’t have a garage, shed, or other outdoor storage area. It needs to be organized, de-cobwebbed, and decorated for Fall!)
- Coordinate our church’s Community Clothing Share and survive with my sanity (This is my second year coordinating an amazing event our church holds where we collect, sort, and organize donated clothing and provide it free to anyone in the community. This year’s Share will be on Sept 27th. That’s going to be a priority in my time and efforts this month!)
I was SO encouraged reading Glimpses of Grace. (A couple weeks ago I shared some of my thoughts inspired by this book in Communing in the Chaos.) Author Gloria Furman lives in the Middle East, is a pastor’s wife and a mother of young children. It’s a wonderful read for woman of any age and in applicable to any season of life because it’s about how the Gospel meets us in real life!! I almost started highlighting all the things that stood out to me and that I wanted to remember, but as I continued to read I realized most of the book would have been marked up! So I didn’t. The book is in beautiful condition and just waiting to be read again!! Enter below, and I’ll send the book out to the winner next week! Wish I could send a copy to every one of you…
